A user calling himself Hu Lezhi burned Ethereum tokens worth $1.65 million and donated a further $5.35 million, posting bizarre screeds about mind control chips. He included multiple suicidal statements.

This sad tale struck a nerve with the crypto community, with figures like Tron founder Justin Sun attempting to support him. However, it also reverberated in a negative way, already inspiring at least one meme coin.

Hu Lezhi Burns Tons of Ethereum

An anonymous Ethereum user burned 500 ETH today, worth about $1.65 million. These transactions contained on-chain messages in an apparent manifesto, where the sender identified himself as Hu Lezhi.

Hu used Ethereum to describe a series of outlandish complaints against Kuande Investment, his apparent employer, related to mind control. He also threatened suicide.

“The bosses of Kuande Investment, Feng Xin and Xu Yuzhi, used brain-computer weapons to persecute all company employees and former employees, and even they themselves were controlled. I am Hu Lezhi, an ordinary programmer and entrepreneur. If one day I become a victim of the final stage, I will leave this world,” the messages read.

Hu’s messages brought a number of concerned responses from the Ethereum community and the broader crypto space in general.

For example, Tron founder Justin Sun tried to reach out, saying the community should give Hu the chance to express his views. Brain chip research has been a controversial topic in the crypto industry overall.

In addition to burning 500 ETH, Hu burned or donated 1647 more tokens to various crypto-related charitable causes, such as Wikileaks and Endaoment, as well as the Ethereum Foundation. In total, this second round of donations and smaller burns lightened his Ethereum wallets by about $5.35 million.

“Since October 2022, I realized that I have been monitored and manipulated by the mind control organization since I was born. Now I have completely lost my dignity as a human being. I have decided to leave this world and hope that this ugly world will be destroyed soon,” Hu claimed.

The price of ETH saw a brief spike today, but it’s probably unrelated to this incident. In all likelihood, today’s Ethereum gains were mostly caused by Solana controversies, but Hu may have contributed to either the rise or decline.

Hu identified his apparent employer as Kuande Investments, which community sleuths have identified as WizardQuant Capital Management.

Despite this name mixup, an unaffiliated individual has already launched a Kuande meme coin. Other meme coins named after Hu are also being launched on Solana. Whatever mental health episode triggered Hu’s Ethereum burn, it already contributed to the meme space.

Unfortunately, Hu’s (which may be a pseudonym) claims about brain chips and mind control are far too outlandish to take at face value. As of now, the crypto community hopes he can get help before he seriously hurts himself.
