The co-founder of Yuga Labs and the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs, Gordon Goner, has raised the alarm over a potential attack on the projects’ social media accounts.
In particular, Gordon Goner states that there were plans to compromise the projects’ Twitter accounts using an inside source to bypass their security. He also clarified that there were no ongoing mints. He said:

Mr. Goner also added that they have been in constant communication with Twitter, and representatives at the company have confirmed that they have put in place ‘an active monitor on the accounts and security has been escalated.’ He also reminded the Bored Ape community to stay safe and that there were no surprise mints.

Hackers have Continually Targetted the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT Community.
Gordon Goner’s announcement of a possible attack on Yuga Lab’s and Bored Ape Yacht Club’s social media accounts comes against the backdrop of constant attacks on their Discord and Instagram accounts.
In the most recent attack, on June 4th, the Discords of the Bored Ape Yacht Club and the Otherside Metaverse were compromised after a community manager’s account was breached through a phishing attack. According to an analysis by the team at SlowMist, the attackers stole more than 145 Ethereum (ETH) worth around $246,000 at the time.
In late April, the Bored Ape Yacht Club Instagram account was hacked and tens of NFTs stolen. The BAYC community reportedly lost 91 NFTs worth at least $2.8 million during the breach.
Additionally, Robot Chicken’s Seth Green was also the victim of a phishing attack in mid-May that resulted in the loss of 4 NFTs that were immediately sold for roughly $330k. Mr. Green has since paid $300k to buy back one of the stolen Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs.
