On Thursday, the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and Blockstream announced the launch of the Cryptocurrency Data Feed, a real-time provider of price information and order books for more than 15 cryptocurrency exchanges from around the world.

On January 18, 2018, the Intercontinental Exchange (parent company of the New York Stock Exchange) and Blockstream announced the launch of the Cryptocurrency Data Feed. For now, the service will offer price information and order books for 15 cryptocurrency exchanges (or almost 80 percent of major trading volume), and at least initially, the data feed will include bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, Ripple, and bitcoin cash.

“With the broad array of cryptocurrencies and exchanges, and given the price variances between exchanges, it’s critical that investors have a comprehensive source of pricing information,” said Lynn Martin, Data Services President and COO for ICE.

“Our work on the Cryptocurrency Data Feed is providing improved cryptocurrency market data through information sharing via our open, collaborative working relationships with cryptocurrency exchanges around the world,” stated Blockstream CEO Adam Back. “We are excited to work closely with ICE and cryptocurrency exchanges globally to deliver this data service that we believe will significantly reduce the barriers to broader trading of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.”

While some of the cryptocurrencies that will be featured on the price feed appear questionable, ICE’s data feed is the latest indication that digital currency is going mainstream. In December 2017, ETHNews reported on the NYSE’s hesitation to enter the bitcoin derivatives market.
