Kin Foundation
Kin cryptocurrency is designed specifically to bring people together in a new shared economy and will serve as the foundation and base for future decentralized ecosystem of digital services. The project has been created by the popular messaging app Kik, which will be also the first to connect its services to the ecosystem. With an already established community of supporters and users from the Kik application, Kin might be able to become widely used almost instantly. It’s worth noting that the Initial Coin Offering of the Kin token gathered $98 million last year.
Unity
Unity is a cross-platform game engine, which can be used both for 2D and 3D games and simulations for computers, consoles and mobile devices. It has become a very popular developers’ choice. Well known projects and games has used Unity engine, for example Cuphead, Life is Strange or Superhot just to name a few, but also even one of the most popular mobile game Pokemon GO.
Gaming cooperation
These two project will join together to work on a gaming-specific software development kit for the developer to allow integration of the Kin ecosystem to the games, much easier and more efficiently.
CoinDesk talked to Dany Fishel, EVP of Partnerships at Kin and explained that “The SDK will allow all game developers to design with kin and blockchain technology at the core,”. Basically, the team will introduce a wallet and a marketplace for developers and after emerging from its beta stage, the SDK will be available in the Unity Asset store and on GitHub.
The main idea is to create a monetization tools for the developers to include in their games. In the interview Fishel said, players could “reward one another for the knowledge they can share” about unlocking game levels or other features, for example. The platform doesn’t worry about connecting the cryptocurrencies as “Gamers in general already have a strong understanding of digital currency to being with. Game developers are the first ones to adopt technologies, they are the first ones to adopt innovation. So we see them specifically as a very natural audience to endorse a cryptocurrency.”
