The decentralized application developer conference kicks off this week.
A former train station in Berlin will be at capacity July 19-20, when numerous decentralized application (Dapp) creators and Ethereum enthusiasts descend for the Developer Conference for Ethereum Dapps & Infrastructure (or DappCon).
According to its website, DappCon is a nonprofit conference for developers that focuses on the creation of Dapps and tools, as well as the general advancement of the Ethereum blockchain. The conference is organized by prediction market platform Gnosis, which was one of the first Dapps developed for Ethereum. Per the DappCon website:
“The conference aims to open critical discussions on the next generation of dapps and provide a learning opportunity for developers who strive to build Ethereum’s core infrastructure and applications.”
The panel discussions and presentations, to be given by leaders in the blockchain industry, will focus on “different governance mechanisms, usability and security of self-sovereign authentication models, next steps in the development of decentralized exchanges, as well as recent developments and the way forward for different scaling solutions.”
Among other items on the schedule, Christian Reitwiessner, a team leader at the Ethereum Foundation and the creator of Solidity, will give a presentation on Solidity 0.5.0; Emily Williams, a software engineer at Level K, will lead a workshop about implementing Futarchy; and Joseph Lubin, the outspoken co-founder of the Ethereum platform and founder of ConsenSys, will participate in a panel discussion titled “The Future of Blockchain, What Could Go Wrong?”
DappCon is one of many conferences across the globe focusing on blockchain technology. Toronto hosted EDCON in May, while October 10 will see the latest Block-Con back in Los Angeles. Devcon4 commences October 30 in Prague.
