Deva the Devcon4 Unicorn, the official voice of the Ethereum Foundation’s Devcon team, announced yesterday that the third and final wave of ticket sales for the annual developer conference had concluded. Like the two preceding waves, yesterday’s event only lasted minutes, as tickets were swept up by people planning to attend the international Ethereum event. The Devcon crew noted it was “blown away by the excitement surrounding” the annual event.

Although the Ethereum Foundation does not intend to hold another wave of ticket sales, it has announced a final appeals process for those who still want to go to Devcon4 but were unable to secure tickets. Individuals have until Monday, September 17, to fill out and submit their final appeals forms to the foundation.

The team will then randomly select ticket recipients from the pool of submissions. Selected recipients will receive access codes valid for 48 hours that enable them to purchase tickets at the standard rate of 1,025 euros.

The road to Prague has been paved with fervor, frustration, and fast fingers. The fifth iteration of the global developer conference, Devcon4 will feature prominent voices within the Ethereum community and provide opportunities to educate and empower those participating in the space.

Each year, the event has taken place in a different city around the world – Berlin in 2014, London in 2015, Shanghai in 2016, Cancún in 2017, and now Prague in 2018. The conference has increased in size and popularity since its inception at the Ethereum devs’ Berlin workspace, and that upward trend of growth is expected to continue through Devcon4.

For folks who remain ticketless even after the appeals process, don’t fret. Organizations and groups in the Ethereum and larger blockchain communities are hosting free-to-attend events in Prague around the time of Devcon4. For instance, Status, a mobile Dapp browser on the Ethereum network, is holding a hackathon from October 30 to November 2 at the National House Smíchov, where individuals can watch livestream coverage of the conference, hang out, and build together.

The Fellowship of Ethereum Magicians is also gathering for two days before Devcon4 on October 28 and 29. Participants will meet unconference-style to make progress on various EIPs and ERCs. The gathering’s wiki agenda is available via GitHub.

Another event of interest is the Decentralized Insurance Developer Conference on October 29, though it requires a ticket to attend. The conference is tailored to innovators in the insurance technology space who are working to redefine the global insurance industry, especially through blockchain-based projects and developments.

Devcon4 may not be an option for some, but Prague will certainly be a hub for blockchain innovation this fall.
