As soon as next season, Mavericks fans might be able to buy their tickets with cryptocurrencies.

Mark Cuban, serial entrepreneur and owner of the Dallas Mavericks, responded yesterday to a fan’s query on social media as to whether or not they could use cryptocurrencies to buy tickets to Mavericks games:

As an investor with clout, Cuban has been relatively optimistic about the ecosystem in general; in the past, he’s even gone so far as to call blockchain “a great platform for future technology.” So when indicators come from Cuban that the Mavericks might accept cryptocurrencies like Ether, the world takes notice.

Cuban has not been shy about embracing cryptocurrencies. He’s backed more than one project developing on the Ethereum blockchain, including Dust Messenger powered by Mercury Protocol and the e-sports betting platform Unikorn.

Sports, like music, have been an element of pop culture in which entrepreneurs and brands have been willing to take a risk on crypto payments. When ETHNews reached out to Cuban for details, however, he replied, stating to this writer that eager fans will need to wait until he’s ready to release more specific information. More is sure to emerge on this developing story, so stay tuned to ETHNews for ongoing coverage.
