A Technology Advisory Committee meeting which had been scheduled in late January, but since was postponed, now has a new calendar date. The public is encouraged to submit feedback and questions.
On February 1, 2018 the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced that the Technology Advisory Committee (TAC) public meeting has been rescheduled to February 14, at the CFTC headquarters in Washington DC.
Originally scheduled for January 23, the meeting had been postponed, “Due to a lapse in appropriations that occurred at midnight on January 19, 2018,” as announced by the commission.
The TAC meeting is sponsored by CFTC Commissioner Brian Quintenz, and Director of LabCFTC Daniel Gorfine is to serve as the Designated Federal Officer. Among the potential topics to be discussed are blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. In addition, meeting attendees will explore issues surrounding data standardization and analytics, algorithmic trading, and RegTech.
The general public may submit written statements to the meeting, and is invited to do so by sending documents, titled “Technology Advisory Committee,” by postage to Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Three Lafayette Centre, 1155 21st Street, NW Washington, DC, 20581. The CFTC will publish any statements submitted in connection with the meeting on its official website.
Ahead of the TAC meeting, this February 6, the Securities and Exchange Commission and CFTC chairs will provide testimony on the regulation of cryptocurrencies before the Senate Banking Committee.
