The EU blockchain organization is currently inviting questions from the public for a live YouTube AMA to be held on June 18.

In a tweet yesterday, the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum announced it will be holding an ask-me-anything (AMA) session on June 18. Questions are being accepted now through Twitter and will be answered by a panel live on the observatory’s YouTube channel. The panelists have not yet been announced.

According to the website, the agenda for the AMA is to discuss what blockchain technologies are, what they are used for, what difficult questions people may have, and what to expect in the years ahead.

Operating under the European Commission’s Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content, and Technology, the observatory was launched in February 2018 as a European Parliament pilot project intended to track blockchain trends and to make recommendations for European blockchain development.

The observatory has only just begun its work, having finalized membership of its working groups in May. Current working groups include the Blockchain Policy and Framework Conditions Working Group and the Use Cases and Transition Scenarios Working Group. Each has an extremely broad focus, suggesting that the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum is still in the process of identifying potential areas of interest. Additionally, the observatory will be hosting a workshop on government services and digital identity in Brussels on July 5.

The group has initiated its work at an interesting juncture, following so closely on the implementation of the GDPR. Some perceive the new European privacy law to be in direct conflict with blockchain technology.
