Blockchains LLC has made a splash with its first major technical hire, adding MyEtherWallet founder Kosala Hemachandra as chief blockchains officer. Hemachandra shared the news on Twitter yesterday evening.

ETHNews spoke with Hemachandra, who enthusiastically discussed his new role.

“I was approached by many other companies about collaborating on blockchain-related ventures, but this is the first one that I really felt shared my values,” he said. “Blockchains LLC cares about developing projects for the Ethereum community and doing business the right way.”

“I admire their commitment to the Ethereum public chain. Blockchains LLC is focused on building in an ethical and sustainable manner, and this is going to be an amazing opportunity to help improve the entire Ethereum ecosystem.”

To maintain his role as MyEtherWallet CEO, Hemachandra plans to split his time between Los Angeles and Reno, where Blockchains recently completed renovations on its newest facility. Hemachandra says he’s up to the task:

“MyEtherWallet has a strong team and I’m proud of our work. At the same time, I’m excited to bring the skills and knowledge that I’ve gained from building MEW over the last few years to my new role at Blockchains LLC,” he said. “I’m confident that MyEtherWallet will continue to provide excellent service to the cryptocurrency community while I also help Blockchains LLC build the future.”

When asked about his upcoming projects at Blockchains, Hemachandra politely declined comment. “That’s top secret,” he said with a smile.
